This winter’s frost has met its match in the scarves, sweaters, fur pieces, and boots that are defining cold weather fashion this season.
At Skyline High School, students are turning cold mornings into stylish fashion statements, layering warmth with personal style. Inspo comes from Pinterest, social media, and fashion influencers. Even on the coldest days students are finding ways to stay comfortable while still dressing and impressing.
This winter, Skyline students are showcasing cozy outfits that balance comfort and confidence, from oversized scarves, cozy sweaters, cute belts, to boots that stand out. These pieces help fight the cold and at the same time add personality to everyday outfits, making winter fashion exciting.
“I like dressing in my style because it makes me feel more confident,” says Hana Ghani ‘27.

Scarves are one of the biggest trends seen this season, adding both warmth and personality to everyday outfits. From chunky knit scarves to thin colorful statements, students can use them as a finishing touch. Scarves are an essential finishing touch that can easily elevate a simple outfit.
“I love scarves and hats,” says Sadie Cutler ‘27, “and cute colorful scarves.”
Along with scarves, sweaters, and baggy jeans have become staples for many students trying to stay warm while still looking put together. These pieces allow students to layer while keeping outfits relaxed and wearable throughout the school day, especially when running to their car through the cold after school.

Ghani ‘27 showed how winter outfits can be both casual and meaningful. She wore Levi’s jeans paired with a Hollister sweater and scarf, creating a cozy and put together look that was perfect for a coffee run with a friend. One of the standout pieces was her belt, which originally belonged to her mom when she was in school. “The belt is old, it was my mom’s when she was in college,” she said, explaining a connection to fashion passed down. She finished the look with a maroon shoulder bag, which she called one of her favorites. “It’s really versatile cause it fits a lot of outfits,” along with black Sambas that she described as a staple/everyday shoe.

Stores such as Holister, Urban Outfitters, and Pacsun are gaining attention this winter for offering many cold winter essentials that combine warmth, comfort, and current fashion trends. The Hollister brand’s seasonal winter collection includes a variety of fur basics such as the hooded faux fur jackets, fleece lined layers, and cozy knit sweaters for men and women. These pieces are practical for cold mornings and wrap students in style in and out of school. Students, when wearing these pieces, can stay comfortable and enhance their personal style.
Faux fur jackets in particular are becoming increasingly popular among students this season, and the trend is hard to ignore. I’ve noticed fur jackets appearing more frequently across my social media feeds, especially on TikTok, Instagram, and outfit inspiration apps like Pinterest, where everyday users show many ways to style them with jeans, scarves, and boots. Social media has played a major role in popularizing fur clothing, training them into statement pieces that feel fashionable during this winter season.
