Do you like singing? Dancing? An elaborate story? Do you have a grudge against historical British colonization? Well, you may consider watching RRR.
RRR is an Indian movie originally filmed in Telugu, directed by D. D. V. Danayya under DDV Entertainment, starring Ram Charan as Raju and N.T. Ramo Rao Jr. as Bheem, and was released in 2022. Bheem and Raju are from two very different backgrounds: a villager and a police officer under the British government. Even with these vast differences they still are working to protect their families and defend their homeland using their own unique sets of skills, unique songs, and dance as well.
It has a very elaborate story that dives deep into the backgrounds and motives of both protagonists. The singing, dancing, and elaborate stunts are all very well done with realism, massive explosions, high-quality CGI, and I cannot tell if they use stunt doubles.
Chances are you’ve heard the phrase “two is better than one.” Well, the same thing applies here! There are two protagonists, with two stories – they do meet at certain points and work together to fight the British and save India, but for the most part, the movie is made to show two separate perspectives (but both with the same goal) which makes it twice as interesting.
There are few movies about Britain colonizing India, and this is one of the few, yet it is so well made. It shows a variety of perspectives, such as the local tribes getting oppressed, the Indians who ended up working for the British, and life as the big bad British.
As one of the most iconic features of Indian movies, the singing and dancing in this movie is outstanding. Songs such as “Kombaa Un Kaadaweres” sung by Bheem’s daughter which was good enough to have one of the British take her as a souvenir to be kept as a sort of pet in her mansion. There was “Koelae”, which was the ending song featuring all the characters, plus the three guys who made the movie (who are all very talented singers and dancers). Lastly, best of all, the song that helped RRR gain international fame was “NAATU NAATU” where Bheem and Raju get to flex on all the British people in front of the Ukrainian White House. It’s very catchy, very energetic, and without a doubt is one of, if not the best songs of the entire movie.
The talent of the actors, brilliant writing, stunning visuals, and dazzling music all come together to make RRR absolutely out of this world. You really cannot go wrong in choosing to watch this movie because it’s just that good!
