“As soon as the daily high hits 65, it’s shorts and t-shirts for me,” says Ezra Min (‘24). As the final snowy, cold, and miserable days of Michigan weather come to an end, spring fashion at Skyline begins to flourish.

The weather in Ann Arbor isn’t always consistent, but students find ways to make it work while staying stylish. With the rise of social media, students can’t help but be influenced by what they see online. “TikTok and Instagram are where I get all of my [inspiration] from,” says Amelia Repp (‘24) “TikTok for sure.”

“Students tend to transition from hoodies into sweaters and windbreakers,” says Avery Gold (‘24). “I have personally seen a popular combination of a graphic tee [and] baggy jeans.”

Baggy bottoms, like cargo pants and jeans, are very popular this spring. Students have strayed away from tight-fitting bottoms, like skinny jeans and leggings, and aim to combine comfort and style. “[A lot of people wear] Levi’s Jeans or Wrangler Jeans,” says Kennedy Wassef (‘26).

Shoes are another way students express themselves, choosing styles, colors, and patterns that represent their personality and lifestyle. Many shoe brands have expanded from their typical athletic sneaker, now offering shoes in modern-athletic styles for everyday wear.

“I think the [Adidas] Samba fashion trend will carry on,” says Wassef. The Samba shoe by Adidas was originally created for a German soccer team in the 1950s. Now, Sambas are worn as an everyday fashion statement and come in over twenty different colors.
