With many fashion trends at Skyline in the winter, students are bundling up!

Some Skyline classrooms are freezing while others are very warm, so it is important that students wear lots of layers. “Most of the big classrooms in the B hallway are usually cold,” says Isabella Somers (‘24). “But then Mrs. Pool and Dr. Blais’s rooms are pretty warm….So, it’s good to wear layers to cope with the different temperatures.”

“[I like to wear] sweatpants, sweatshirts, coats, and sometimes hats,” says Lexie Rooks (‘24).

Sweatshirts and sweatpants are a popular clothing choice due to their warmth and comfort. “I like baggy,” says Diego Hurtado (‘26). “I mean I get cold anyways.”

Others enjoy wearing jeans, a stylish and warm choice. This winter, skinny jeans are out and baggy jeans, without holes, are in. “Yeah, I hate skinny jeans,” says Hurtado. Baggy or loose,  jeans provide warmth and comfort that skinny jeans don’t offer.

Popular outer layers are jackets and hoodies, although many ditch the jacket during school. “I don’t wear a jacket. “It’s too big to carry around,” says Marcus Walker (‘27).

Those who don’t mind carrying their jacket layer up! “I wear, maybe a hoodie or just a shirt, then have my winter coat over,” says Hurtado.

Sneakers are a popular choice for many students, no matter the season. “The brands I wear the most are Nike and Jordans: Red Thunder 4’s, Jordan 11’s Concords and Air Force Ones,” says RJ Jones (‘25).

Some enjoy wearing sneakers during the cold months, but others prefer warmer shoes, like the Tasman Uggs. “[I like to wear] closed-toe shoes like Tasman Uggs,” says Jayda Townsend (‘27).

Students are split: many wear boots when it snows, but others don’t mind getting their sneakers dirty. “If it’s snowing outside, [I wear] mostly Doc Martens,” says Jae Drake (‘25).  However, students like Hurtado rarely wear boots. “The only time I would wear winter boots is for walking my dog.”
