Park Planet, a place that seems to be full of fairytales and joy, hides a crushing reality of captivity behind a curtain. A whimsical floating park of dreams has been polluting the inhabitants underneath, creating an unsafe living environment that sickens the workers who clean up the trash.
Knights of Guinevere is an animated story created, written, and directed by Dana Terrace, popularly known for writing Disney’s The Owl House. The Owl House faced censorship and was cancelled due to Disney not agreeing with Terraces’ writing, saying the show “didn’t fit the brand.” Terrace had actually pitched Knights of Guinevere to Disney where it was rejected. She brought the idea to an indie animation company Glitch Productions, where she has been able to finally write the art that’s true to her beliefs on the company’s YouTube channel. After the Pilot episode, the show was greenlit on February 13th, 2026.
There are hidden themes within the show that ties it to real life, such as ecological issues caused by capitalism, maturing, broken innocence, and many others. A lot of the workforce is made of bad jobs that underpay and have unsafe conditions, causing workers to get sick. A common job includes factory-like work, where merchandise is mass produced for the park. The garbage dropped by the park is collected and sold by scrappers. This connects to real life, where billion dollar companies pollute our oceans with tons of trash and other pollutants. This affects not only the sea life, but also contaminates seafood, making it not safe for consumption.
Growing up is a theme seen throughout the show. Characters like Frankie and Andi are shown first as children who wish to win a prize, which is a Princess Guinevere plush, using a claw machine they hacked into, since they cannot afford to play it. As they attempt to win the prize, the claw keeps opening and they never end up winning it, instead they get surprised by a real Princess Guinevere bot who befriends them almost as a mother figure. Princess Guinevere is the mascot of Park Planet and has many types of high quality bots to interact with.
When the two become adults, Frankie is seen working two jobs, the first being in a factory to produce Guinevere merch and the second working as a scrapper. At her scrapping job, she uses a large claw to lift a Guinevere bot out of the water. These bots are very valuable and cost a lot of money due to their interior robotic parts. Frankie having the inability to win the plush as a child, but with ease as an adult with a real Princess Guinevere is a metaphor for maturity in present times.
In a lot of the backgrounds there are easter eggs and references to other Glitch Production animations, such as when Frankie and Andi were trying to win the plush, there were plushies from Murder Drones, The Amazing Digital Circus, and Gaslight District.
Those who enjoyed The Owl House and any Glitch Production shows would most likely enjoy Knights of Guinevere. Those who are into psychological horror might be intrigued along with those who seek deeper meaning behind a story.
