The clock has struck midnight! 2025 is now in the past and 2026 is just beginning. We took a look at the goals Skyline students are setting for themselves going into 2026.
“Traveling is something I really enjoy,” says Tam Miller (‘28). “I love hiking, so maybe this year I will visit somewhere with mountains, like Montana or British Columbia.”
Others are looking to build on bonds they’ve made already and form new friendships in the year ahead.
“I hope to make more friends and become closer with the friends I already have,” says Claudia Robichaud (‘28). “I’m already making connections with new people and it brings me a lot of happiness.”
As we approach the second half of the school year, some seniors are shifting their focus from college applications to life after graduation.
“I’m aiming to just have a good transition to college and start new life away from home, wherever I end up,” says Enzo Beneghil (‘26). “I’m not going to be in high school anymore, so I have to continue the next part of my education and see what I’m interested in.”
On the other hand, underclassmen have their minds set on other important milestones.
“[I want to] start driving school [and] get my permit, finally,” says Zora Hunter (‘29).
Hunter also hopes to improve athletically. “I want to get better at lacrosse,” she says.
Beyond personal milestones, some students are rethinking habits that they have formed and are leaving them in 2025.
“I really want to focus on saving money in 2026,” says Miller. “ I often spend a good portion of the money I get from my job, so I think I’m going to try to save more of it this year. I like the idea of saving up for things I’ll need in college.”
Other students are focused on keeping stress to a minimum after a busy year.
“[I’m] trying to be as stress free as possible,” says Jesus Sanchez-Hernandez (‘26). “This year was pretty stressful.”
For one student, his new year’s resolution is simple. When asked what he might want to leave behind in 2025, Alexander Berlongeleiri (‘28) says, “Procrastinating.”
