As Halloween night approaches in Ann Arbor, students at Skyline High School share their favorite things to do during the month of October. From fun Halloween parties to staying home and watching scary movies,a variety of activities make Halloween night special.
Trick or treating is the most popular Halloween activity ranging from kindergarteners to seniors in high school. “I like to dress up and go trick-or-treating until about nine…when I’m done trick-or-treating I usually hand out candy or hang out with the friends that I trick-or-treat with,”said Marissa Riley (‘29).
You’re never too old to dress up with your friends and go from door to door to get candy. It’s always fun to come up with something new to dress up as or even come up with a group costume to wear and scare people. “I don’t think there is an age limit to those things,” said Markell Freeman (‘27).
As we get older, many students think parties are essential for the fun teenage experience. Everyone still dresses up and we still see our friends, but in a different environment. Parties feel like “part of the high school experience,”says Amaya Dawson (‘27).
We can’t forget Haunted houses.“Last year I went to the haunted house. My friend dragged me to it and I thought it would be OK,” says Riley, “and I thought it would be fun but I actually really hate it because I don’t like scary things”
What better way to celebrate the spooky season than to really feel like you are in that scary movie that you could be watching on the couch – The Black Phone 2, The Conjuring, Coraline, etc.
