“Conrad is the only right choice. Why would she pick a man child over a doctor?!”

If you’ve heard anything about Amazon’s hit show The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP), you know that the question “Team Conrad or team Jeremiah?” is crucial. The Skyline Post surveyed the school, asking which team readers and watchers of the series are on.
There were 38 responders to the survey, with 68.2% being on team Conrad. 15.8% of responders were on team Jeremiah, and the rest of the survey takers wrote in their own answers: team Cam Cameron, Anti-Belly, neither, and more.
The character Belly has gone back and forth so many times between the Fisher brothers, but in the end, she chooses to be with Conrad, which most fans seem happy with.
“Belly will never be happy with anyone but Conrad,” says student Margaret Sansburn (‘26). “She’s always been in love with him and will be for life”
One of the many reasons watchers of TSITP like Conrad more than Jeremiah is because of how Jeremiah cheated on Belly. “Conrad is the clear choice,” Jane Jordan (‘28) states. “he has his priorities straight, and is ready to be faithful to ONE person, unlike Jeremiah.“
Another common Skyline opinion was that Belly should be her own person and not make so many decisions centered around the Fisher brothers. Reed Jemison-Blais (‘28) argues that “both of them are bad for her, and she needs to get a life and have a life outside of men.”
The only other relationships that Belly had in the series were with Cam Cameron and Benito, which were both pretty brief. “Belly needs to move outside of the family,” explains Iris Rosaen (‘28).While everyone has a different opinion on the question “Team Conrad or team Jeremiah?” It is clear that the show has impacted many and has created a community in which readers and watchers of The Summer I Turned Pretty can connect and discuss their points of view.
