As the leaves outside of Skyline start to change colors to red and gold, restaurants around Ann Arbor begin to roll out fall menus. Fall foods around Ann Arbor are worth trying to experience new flavors, connect with people, be festive, and get a sense of the local chefs and cultures. Here are my top recommendations:
Zingerman’s Roadhouse ($$$)
2501 Jackson Ave, Ann Arbor, MI
Mac ‘n’ Cheese and Sweet Potato Fries
The perfect warming fall combination between the sweetness of the mac and the saltiness of the fries. A warm and comforting pair. Other staples on the menu include the Kale and Pinenut Salad, which also features dried cherries, making for a perfectly balanced sweet flavor. Adding fried chicken elevates it as a whole.
Kerry Town Farmers Market ($$)
303-315 Detroit St, Ann Arbor, MI
Vegetables, fruits, animal products
A large assortment of locally grown, seasonal fruits and vegetables is on display every Saturday and Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There are new vendors this year, including Eveland Syrups and Stoney Creek Farmstead. Colorful and busy, there is something for everyone to find.
Le Dog ($)
306 South MAIN Street Suite #1-E, Ann Arbor, MI
Soup+hot dog
A surprising combination of a hot dog and a cup of soup, perfect for the changing weather. I would consider Le Dog to be an “If you know, you know,” spot because of its location and small size. The lobster bisque was creamy, rich, and delicious, paired with a Zingerman’s Paisano roll offered for an extra $1.
Dozer Coffee ($)
112 Jackson Plaza, Ann Arbor, MI
Pumpkin Spice Latte
Made in-house, Dozer Coffee’s Pumpkin Spice syrup makes the perfect pumpkin spice latte. As of September 24th, fall menu features have arrived, including Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider Donuts, Pumpkin Pie Lattes, and even an Apple Jacks Latte!
Cups N’ Chai ($)
214 S 4th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI
The Amore Chai is my go-to every time. It is sweet, spiced, and in my opinion, best on the menu, especially during the colder months. The wide variety of options on the menu gives a wide selection of different authentic Chai drinks, and the staff is especially friendly and inviting.
If you want the full Ann Arbor fall experience, you’ve got to taste it.
