Everyone loves the football games, especially the themes. This year’s themes were really fun, with country, pink vs. camo, USA, and more.
Dressing up for the games is a fun tradition that lots of students plan with their friends. “I enjoy dressing up with friends and picking out an outfit for the games,” says Adelyn Mazak (‘27). The themes are always posted on the student-run @A2_nest account on Instagram in the middle of August.
The first football game of the year is always beach themed, and has always been popular due to the warmer weather.
Most of our themes are usually the same every year, with some new ones here and there, but there are a lot of themes out there that people want to see. “I think a theme people would like is a neon or animal print theme,” says Mazak, ”because I think color themes are easy for people to participate in.” Some people cannot participate in the themes because they do not have the clothing for it, like a country hat or camo.
Our Homecoming game theme is always blackout. It is one of the biggest football games of the year, and this year we went up against rival Pioneer High School. Since it’s the biggest game, almost everyone participates in the theme.
Most people said that Blackout was the easiest theme to do out of all of them. “My favorite theme would probably be blackout,” says Magnus Fuson (‘28).
Many students have suggested that we need to start changing up the themes. “I think they could be much better,” said Amaya Dawson (‘27). “And I think they repeat a lot, and we should start switching them up.”
The football themes this year were:
