Jumping into the 2025-2026 school year, a new Skyline teacher has made their teaching debut. Alice Jeong, the new AP Psychology teacher, is eager to be here in room C307.
Having grown up and moved from outside Seoul, South Korea, Jeong is looking forward to being a part of Skyline. “Skyline is very academically motivated,” says Jeong. “Even in my first month of teaching here, you guys make me want to teach. When I teach you something, everyone shows interest and appreciates the classes. As a teacher, it’s the greatest gift you can get.”
“I did a lot of tutoring back in high school and through college,” says Jeong. “Interacting with high schoolers is something I was already familiar with. And I really like the energy that high school has. I wanted a job I would enjoy. So I started teaching AP Psychology.”
After graduating from the University of Michigan, Jeong came to Skyline after a long journey. “I really wanted to be a speech pathologist,” says Jeong. “I was interested in languages, but then I got into college and realized it was very STEM-heavy…, so I pivoted my path [towards psychology].”
The community has been very welcoming towards her so far. “I always enjoyed Ann Arbor,” says Jeong. “Especially going to Michigan. Ann Arbor is a very unique academic community because the university is here, and the students are very academically motivated.”
AP Psychology is one of the more popular AP classes at Skyline, mainly for Juniors and Seniors. “I think the reason why psychology pulls a lot of people in is because it’s the study about people and about yourself,” says Jeong. “High school is a time when you’re trying to discover your own identity, you’re very aware of the future, but focus on the present. Taking psychology helps you organize that sense of identity.”
The classes study engaging topics that are applicable to students’ lives.“Psychology gives you perspective on yourself,” says Jeong. “Sleep, caffeine, personality, disorders, are all things [we cover]. You can take advantage of the info and improve your quality of life.”
Jeong is excited to be a part of the Skyline community and meet new people. “Please come say hi,” says Jeong. “I really appreciate when students who I don’t have drop by. I have snacks.”
