“I was really excited to do this role, because from when I first started being a teacher, I did this summer time teacher training thing at a writing center at MSU… I said to myself, ‘I want to direct a writing center some day.’ I love the vibe of a writing center and I love the mission… then 20 years later, I got to do it… It’s really different from being a classroom teacher, because when you’re a classroom teacher, a lot of times you have to… assign an essay and you have… a hundred essays to look at… There’s big tasks that you have to do, but as a director of the writing center, there’s two hundred little tasks… It was a real adjustment to figure out how to manage my work flow, it’s a totally different type of work flow, and I don’t have uninterrupted time like a teacher would… If they let me… I will stay in this position until I retire.”
