How I spend my time is listening to music. After listening to Doja Cat’s newest release, Vie, she is one of my favorite artists. She is usually known for using multiple different genres of music. She has released 5 albums since 2018.
“Take Me Dancing” is the only song that features a different artist, SZA. For me, that is already plus many points. Doja and SZA’s voices match perfectly together. The intro is soft and slow but speeds up. “Take Me Dancing” feels very calm, like I could listen to it on repeat. The background sounds also add a lot to this piece. It uses a saxophone to add emotional depth and uniqueness. With all of these great factors, I rate this tune as the best piece of her album. 9/10
Next is “Gorgeous.” This piece is not repetitive, which is a plus. When listening to other artists, I find that they repeat the exact same lyrics 50 times. Doja’s lyrics do the exact opposite of that. “Gorgeous” is the kind of song where you can listen to it in any mood. It is wavy with a smooth tone. It has a steady rhythm and almost makes me feel as if I am swimming in a bright blue [Gorgeous] ocean. 8/10

In third place is “Cards.” In this whole album I’d say everything fits together well. But, this is the one that stood out. I enjoyed listening to “Cards” mainly because of the quick beat. It was fast, but not so fast that I couldn’t keep up. I also enjoyed this piece because it reminded me of “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen. This song (like her others) also includes a little rap section and some background instruments. 7/10
“Lipstain” is next. Now as we continue on with ranking these songs there becomes more bad then good in them. I would personally explain this piece as echoey. It is quiet and feels like I’m lying on a cloud listening to it. All of these things are good, but one thing that really brings down the ranking of the piece: it’s boring. There is nothing very special about “Lipstain.” In my opinion, good music is exciting music, the pieces where you immediately know what it was just based on the first two notes. I have to rank “Liptstain” as a 6/10.
Last and definitely least is “AAAHH MEN!” This piece’s beginning reminds me of the intro to a children’s TV show. Overall, it reminds me of Lizzo: very angry but upbeat. It has a little bit of rap in it, but overall, I feel like someone is screaming in my ear when listening to this song. “AAAHH MEN!” is in last place: 5/10
