Released August 29, 2025, Sabrina Carpenter’s seventh album Man’s Best Friend is a well-rounded album with many different kinds of emotion.
This album is great because it has different moods throughout. It is well rounded by having different kinds of emotion. Carpenter’s album is about one overall topic, a breakup. But the songs show the various things it led to.
Her song “Manchild” has an angry mood by saying “Won’t you let an innocent woman be?” and “Never heard of self-care, half your brain just ain’t there.” “Nobody’s Son” shows a different way of grieving by saying. “‘So I can grow emotionally’, that’s what he said to me, here we go again crying in bed, what a familiar feeling.” The moods of the songs express all the different kinds of emotions people go through.
When you listen to the album in order, it tells a story. The first song is “Manchild” and the closing song is “Goodbye.” The order Carpenter lays out her songs makes it seem like she might have started to realize that a man was being immature, so she decides to leave. Her songs all include different moods and chaotic human emotions.
Lastly, “Man’s Best Friend” includes different musical instruments like banjo, acoustic and electric guitars, drums, piano, strings, and synthesizers, giving her songs a retro 90’s feeling and make her album more interesting for fans to listen to. This new sound marks a larger difference between her other albums from past years. A lot of Carpenter’s songs have been very repetitive recently, but with different instruments and a unified theme, the album stands apart from other albums.
“Man’s Best Friend” is great to listen to if you’re bored with basic normal pop music. Carpenter didn’t just make her music based off of what is trending. She made this album to start something new and make something unique. I would recommend this to young to middle aged people.
Man’s Best Friend gets a 7/10 from me.
