On September 16th, Skyline kicked off the school year with THE big rival flag football game as the juniors (‘26) took on the seniors (‘25). In a shocking turn of events, the juniors took the win and defeated the seniors, 20-6.
In all of Skyline’s PowderPuff history, the trend has almost always been seniors beating juniors; the last time juniors won was in 2019. “The seniors always think that they might take it, but then every couple years the juniors squeeze in and end up stealing it,” said PowderPuff organizer Anne Bezeau, Skyline’s Health and PE teacher. “So, we’ll see who will end up winning the game.”
Leading up to the game, the junior players were full of confidence. “I am so excited…to win!” said Molly Greenberg (‘26). The team believed that this would be their time to shine, despite all the success senior classes have had in the past.
“I think the juniors will win even though the seniors think they will win,” said Kennedy Wassef (‘26). Not only were the junior players eager, but the junior coaches were also feeling the team spirit.
“This team shows a lot of promise,” said Noah Scherer (‘26). “We have a lot of athletes on the team.”
The Juniors started off the game, giving the Seniors a run for their money, by quickly scoring a touchdown. The seniors continued to fight back, but at the end of the day the juniors were victorious. “It felt great [to win] and was a lot of fun!” said Maja Kwaiser (‘26).
