As August ended, Skyline Boys’ varsity Soccer came out hard. The soccer team was hard at work this season going 7-5-1, highlighted by a 2-1 win over Huron, and a 3-0 win against Pioneer. The varsity team fell short in the district final against Saline, losing 3-0 against the Hornets. The Eagles will be looking for revenge next year with lots of players returning for their senior season.

This year, the Varsity Team added Limamou Seck (‘26) and Fletcher Kierce (’26) in hopes of bolstering the squad. “I think it’s an honor to get pulled up to help the team win districts and more,” Seck said.

The team had seven regular season wins including wins against rivals Huron, Pioneer, Saline, and Dexter. “I’m always excited to play our big rivals like Dexter, Huron and Saline because the stands always have a lot of supporters,” said varsity player Kareem Almadani (‘27). “It’s always really fun.”

Standing at second in the Southeastern Conference Red Division, many players felt that this year went great. “My personal goal is being a good teammate the best I can,” said JV goalie Jack Collins (‘27).

Their game on September 12th against Huron, who led the division during the regular season, started off slow, but the Eagles were able to come out with a 2-1 victory on the back of goals from Noah Silkworth (‘25) and Niko Grgic (‘24)

Star captains Nick Lukela (‘24), Bailey Edison (‘24), and Matthew Zwolensky (‘24) kept the team strong and motivated. “Our goal was to win districts, you can tell in practices and games our team is working a lot harder to achieve this goal,” said Zwolensky (‘24)

Varsity worked hard to fight for a spot at regionals. “Practices have been high intensity to improve skill to prepare,” said Ben Zampi (‘27). “Working twice as hard in practice is how you will perform on the field to beat our big rivals.”

Players trained in and out of practice to achieve their goal of winning districts and the state championship. “I work hard during practice and play in games as hard as I can to work on my speed and accuracy,” said Seck before Districts.

“Winning is my biggest motivation and our team really supports each other,”  said Junior Varsity Player Quinn Chappell-Lakin (‘27). “When I play I know my team has my back.”

New recruits to the varsity team included Patrick Sawyer (‘27), Benjamin Zampi (‘27), Kareem Almadani (‘27), Jack Collins (‘27), and Benjamin Pawlowski (‘27). “Our team works really well together and I have confidence no matter who we play,” said Sawyer.
