Skyline Men’s Basketball team ends season with record of 7-16, falls short to Saline in first round of Districts
After entering the season in a period of transition following the graduation of several starters, the Skyline men’s basketball team closed the year with a 7–16 record and saw its season end with a first-round district loss to Saline. Before districts, the team still had a strong desire to win games.
“The mentality is just to keep going,” said Owen Peterson (‘26). “We know what we’re working towards. Just because we lose a game, it doesn’t mean our season’s over. We’re just working towards districts, and we know when that time comes, we need to win.”
A large mix of grade levels on the team built strong connections between younger, new players and older, senior players.
“I think our overall team bond is really strong, because we just have so many different classes just merging together,” said Peterson (‘26). “It’s been a fun experience just getting to know everybody.”
Throughout this season, one of the key things that the team wanted to improve was being consistent.
“Working to be consistent and have a purpose for all that we do, in the classroom and towards the team on the court. Locking in every single day, that’s the separator,” said Head Coach Jon-Lamar Hamilton. “The great teams don’t turn it on and off.”
Many leaders emerged during the season, and one person that was an important figure on and off the field was senior Limamou Seck (‘26).
“Being a captain for this team was great,” said Seck (‘26). “It was a little hard at first, but as the days went on and we started being a family it got so much easier.”
