Alice Le Saux (’26) may be a face you’re not too familiar with. Le Saux is a student from France. She was looking for an adventure and decided to do an exchange year.
“I wanted to do an exchange year to discover new people, new culture, and learn English because I think it’s very important,” says Le Saux.
Because of her height, everyone thought she played basketball, so when she came to Skyline, she thought– why not actually try it? She stepped out of her comfort zone and joined the Women’s basketball team. This was a very hard thing for her to do, but she truly started to thrive in the program and sport.
“Alice has improved so much,” said Anika Watters (’28). “During games, she gets so many rebounds and takes shots when she’s open. During practice, you can always see her working hard and improving the basics.”
Le Saux’s great personality is hard to miss. From her bright smile to her energy on the court, you can’t miss her. She has become such a valuable member of the JV and Varsity team.
“Having Alice as a teammate is so much fun. She never fails to make me smile,” says Grace Weeter (29’) “She brings so much positive energy and great defense to our team.”
It takes guts to come to a whole new country and school barely knowing the language, but Alice took it a step further and decided to join a sports team. Not only that, but she has never played basketball before, and that didn’t stop her.
“She has improved so much, from not even knowing how to shoot a layup to making almost all of them in practice,” says Weeter. “Also, seeing her more confident when shooting the ball as the season went on was amazing.”
After High School, Le Saux wants to go to school for medicine. She would like to pursue this because both of her parents are doctors, and she finds learning about the human body interesting. Along with becoming a doctor, Le Saux wants to travel the world, see new places, and learn about different cultures.
