Walking into the Big House last month, I wondered if Zach Bryan, a country singer, would actually be able to fill the entire venue. I was also really excited to see how they would transform this traditional football stadium into a feel-good country show concert venue. Looking around, I was astonished by how many people all dressed in cowboy hats and boots could actually fit inside the stadium. The atmosphere had a warm and a simplistic feeling throughout the whole show, and it was the perfect setting for a fantastic night of music.
My favorite opening act was John Mayer, thanks to his exceptional acoustic guitar skills mixed with his engaging, playful nature with the audience. Some of the songs Mayer played include, Belief, Last Train Home, Who Says, Slow Dancing in a Burning Room, and Gravity.
Electric anticipation filled the air when Zach Bryan took the stage, while I anxiously awaited to hear the setlist. According to Setlist.fm, some popular songs in his set list from previous concerts were “Pink Skies, 28, Dawns, Oklahoma Smokeshow, Something in the Orange, Revival, and Nine Ball,” Interviewing Kate Shinksy (‘29) before the concert, she added, “I am very excited [for the concert]. . I am most excited for him to play the song Revival.”
To the delight of all the fans, Bryan played all of these amazing songs and many more hits. My personal favorite hit that he played was Revival, everyone went wild and sang along. In between songs Bryan thanked the crowd for all coming out to hear him play his music. It was an amazing concert, I am so glad I got to see him perform.
After an incredible concert, he closed out the show with fireworks that lit up the whole sky.
Bryan stated that the meaning behind the tour name, ‘Quittin Time Tour’, was the fact that it was his final hurrah before he planned to take a break and go to Paris to pursue his Master’s Degree.
This farewell tour explains the reason so many people took the chance to see him live in Ann Arbor. It was a very memorable night.
I don’t know a lot of songs, but it seems like a really fun concert, so I would love to go since it’s his last tour for a while.” says Eve Mckinnon (‘29).
With his amazing setlist, dynamic musical guests, and warm, inviting set design, it was an incredible night of live music.
