“Over my four years at crew, I have learned a lot, both about rowing but also about my mindset in school. When I first started high school, I had a hard time balancing homework and practice because I was overwhelmed. Crew taught me to work even when I am overwhelmed and nervous. This really helped me stop procrastinating so much in school, and it definitely helped my grades. My favorite season is fall because it progressively gets cooler throughout it, and that makes it nicer to row. My mindset for 2k pieces is to largely put them out of my mind, because that helps me keep the nerves down and perform at my best. That approach has also helped me on tests. Going into senior year, I didn’t think my thoughts about crew would change that much, but now that we’ve started, I’ve come to realize the impact that this team has had on my life and how much I am going to miss it once I graduate. I wish that I could stay in the community here forever, but sadly, time doesn’t work that way. And while I will definitely miss it and be sad once it’s over, I will also have come out of it a better person.”
