Skyline students have launched a pop up thrift store with one mission in mind: to contribute to Save the Children, an organization that supports less fortunate children from different countries. The shop takes donated items and changes the lives of children around the world providing them with stable resources.
Lead organizer Sofia Zarian (‘26) values kindness and ambition by helping all people, not limiting to one group. Zarian says, “My inspiration was to strive to make a difference by staying involved, helping others, and always seeking new opportunities to grow.”
Zarian decided to create Skyline Thrift as a personal passion project to help the less fortunate, but the process was tedious and took a while to get school approval. All the clothes in this thrift store either came from herself or donations from boxes she left out around school. The clothes went through a careful cleaning process to ensure they are ready to sell at their cafeteria pop-up stand during the month of April. This event is aimed to continue at the same time of year.

All proceeds go straight to the fundraiser portal. “All money is intended for the charity Save the Children,” said Zarian. “Nothing is kept for anything else.”
Skyline Thrift did well this year, raising over $3,000. Zarian hopes Skyline Thrift
continues as a tradition; it’s a great way to upcycle clothes and provide fashion for a cheaper price.
