Tuesday, May 13. Skyline High School’s class of 2025 doesn’t only make it to school on time, but comes together before the sun rises to celebrate their new beginnings. Senior Sunrise, one of Skyline’s most popular traditions, invites the senior class to have one of their final moments in high school all together. This event is widespread across the country as a way of transitioning from one stage of their life to another.
@aA2_nest, a non-Skyline affiliated Instagram account, posts when and where to meet a few days in advance. This year, seniors were kept up to date on schedule changes and weather updates as clouds and rain hid the sunrise on the class’s first attempt. The forecast showed no signs of a beautiful sunrise for our second attempt, leading to a gloomy six am arrival time to grey skies.
Seniors didn’t let the haze ruin their event and had a memorable morning taking photos in their college merch with their classmates. Many seniors decorate their cars with fun, bright colored markers, adding exciting messages like “Senior Year” or “Class of 2025.”
This is one of the class’s last moments all together, making graduation feel more real and highlighting how long this class has waited for this moment. Despite the beautiful sky, Senior Sunrise is not just about the sunrise, it’s about celebrating the future that once seemed so far away but now is only a few weeks away.
