At Skyline High School, students in the Business, Marketing, and Information Technology (BMIT) magnet program spend years learning about business, leadership, and marketing. Their final challenge comes in senior year when they take the capstone leadership class: students form teams, create a business idea, develop it into a company, and present their project.
One group, Versa Shave, has gone above and beyond with their business idea. Versa Shave is not just another razor company. The team worked hard to improve the design of razors to make them more effective and unique in the market.

Their ability to market their product and present it professionally helped them stand out from the competition. As a result, they earned a spot at the national competition in New York, which will take place from April 5-8.
“Versa Shave is a shaving company, our catchphrase is ‘quality care for every hair,’” says team member Sawyer Thompson (‘25). “We started working on this idea at the beginning of the school year and have turned it into a company that qualified for nationals in New York City.”
After presenting their business to Virtual Enterprise International, Versa Shave was selected to move on to the national stage. At the event, they will showcase their business in front of VE to win gold.
The Versa Shave team includes Desmond Avis (‘25), Britta Coultas (‘25), Sawyer Thompson (‘25), Landry Jobe (‘25), Saumil Agarwal (‘25), Ronak Ailawadi (‘25), Riley Eidelman (‘25), Karma Bailey (‘25), and David Wason (‘25). Each member has played an important role in making their company a success.
The students are thrilled about the opportunity to travel and compete at a national level. “I can’t wait to go to New York and present our business,” says Coultas. “It’s an amazing opportunity.”
