Right when I get home from school and my cosmetology program, I start thinking about what to wear the next day. What would be comfiest for me? I think about the weather. I think about special occasions. I have my clothes all over my room — I look through my clothing containers full of options.
When I’m on my monthly, when I want to feel supported, or when I’m feeling down and not my usual self, I try to find something I’ll be comfortable wearing the whole day — even under my cosmetology scrubs.
Being comfortable makes me feel happy. When I put on my comfy clothes, I feel like a little girl again. Leggings with Uggs and leg warmers make me feel the best out of all the options. Also, baggy hoodies because they fit the best for me. And with sweatpants I feel the coziest when they are a couple sizes bigger; the more space, the more comfortable I am with my clothes and body.
Some days, I want to dress cute because I’m feeling happy about myself. And when I feel cute, I do better in cosmetology and in school all-around. My teacher will compliment my makeup, but she doesn’t see my outfits because they’re under my scrubs. However, I feel good because I chose to dress up on days when I’m feeling confident and happy about myself.
I see this as self care, which is something important to me, and I take pride in it. I think that having strong self-care is one of the best things that can happen to anyone. When I always dress cute, I do it for myself because I shouldn’t have to change my clothes because of what somebody else does.
I love having complete control over my outfits, and how it correlates to my mood. “When you feel good, you know that you can do good, and when you do good, you look good” is the motto I live by.
All these items are the things I love to wear because of how cozy, yet confident they make me feel: leg warmers and leggings, cardigans, Ugg boots, baggy sweaters and sweatpants. Personally, I have worn the outfit in the photo before, and it’s one of my fancier going-out outfits.
The people below are Instagram influencers who give me a lot of outfit inspiration daily:
Amberly Sara is a creator with a bubbly personality. I always watch her outfit videos because they make me smile and will always give me the energy to wear what I like.
jaz.is.fab is another creator who has more put together outfits. She always has a beautiful smile plastered on her face and I love to see someone so happy with their fashion choices.
Victoria West is definitely the funkiest influence on this list. Her outfits are so unique and I love it, it inspires me to dress outside of my comfort zone.
Chicgyalxo is the last creator on the list, and I love her because of how one-of-a-kind and changing her fashion is. A fun bonus to her content is that she always dances to the specific song Pop Muzik (12 Inch Version ) By M And Robin Scott, which I love to listen to.
