The Skyline Eagles basketball team has been off to a blazing start this season, currently ranked 13 in the state of Michigan. With a group of experienced seniors and promising upcoming juniors and sophomores, the Eagles are proving to be a force in the SEC division.
Many fans may not know that the energy off the court is just as important as the effort and passion on it – it helps to push the players to be their best in every game. In recent games, the team has been feeding off the energy of the crowd, but the gym hasn’t quite reached its full potential.
“Our team thrives off energy,” says team captain Ben Solomon (‘25). “When the crowd is loud, it gives us that extra push to fight for every play.”
Skyline’s coaching staff agrees. Head coach JonLamar Hamilton has called on the student body to show support for the team, emphasizing the impact a strong student section can have on the game’s momentum. “The atmosphere in the gym can swing a close game in our favor,” Hamliton says. “We’ve got the talent on the floor, we need the support in the stands.”
To help boost attendance, the school’s unofficial student section Instagram “A2_Nest” has posted themes for the games such as Blackout and USA. The themes are a fun and interactive way to be a part of the student section and encourage the team to play their best.
“There’s nothing like the vibe of a packed gym,” says student section leader Kamryn Lindsey (‘25). “I think it helps motivate the team and it’s also so fun to be a part of.”
With upcoming games against conference rivals, the Eagles will need every bit of support they can get. The team is ready to make this season unforgettable, hoping to make a run for Skylines first state title, but they can’t do it alone. It’s time for Skyline students to answer the call, fill the stands, and make some noise.
