We all saw it on the news last weekend: A giant winter storm would soon be sweeping across the country, dumping snow and blizzards everywhere, and promising snow days for lots of schools. But after a closer look, it became clear that this mighty storm was skipping right over Michigan, and traveling down south instead.
The fate of the winter storm has caused lots of controversy at Skyline, with different opinions flying around regarding snow days, seeing love interests, and coming back to school after winter break.
Alex Vincent (‘26) expressed her disappointment about the lack of snowstorm, saying “I’m sad, because then we would have had more snow days, and that would have been great since we wouldn’t have to come back to school so early.”
Vincent wasn’t the only one with snow days on her mind. “I wish we got some snow because I didn’t want to come back to school, and I really like snow,” said Sabrina Jewell (‘26).
Losing out on snow days is definitely disappointing for everyone, but some students are content with the way things turned out, for one reason or another. Some students report they were looking forward to seeing friends and love interests back in the halls of Skyline.
Another positive: “I’m super glad that it didn’t hit us, because we didn’t have to go through the danger of snowy roads, especially when I was driving back from vacation,” said Maya Neblett (‘26), who was also grateful for the dry weather.
