“I had teachers who are part of the bullying system. [It made me feel] really terrible, and so I told myself ‘I’m going to take that trauma and put it on its head. [I’ll] teach students in a way that’s right and a way that makes people feel comfortable…’ Teachers are teaching students but I learn so much [from them]. I think we always think of it as a one-way, but [we learn] from the students as well. Just talking to the students has made me realize a lot about my own self and my own sexuality and my own gender and I think that’s really really cool.”
