“I was at the Polish-American heritage festival in South Lyon this past Sunday for about four hours. I was volunteering there with my Polish school. I went there when I was two; I’m too old to go there now, so now I’m volunteering to help the five and six year olds…. We sold naleśnik [crepes], T-shirts, and flower headdresses. We had a little spinny thing. I painted kids’ faces. I’ll probably continue to do volunteer work. I get to talk to a lot of people and listen to a lot of interesting stories.”
