“I had a really good experience with band leaders my freshman year, so when it came time to decide whether or not to try out, I considered being a section leader, but my friends convinced me to try out for drum major. Now it’s really fun. It’s different from what I imagined, but I really enjoy watching the band and seeing what their performance looks like, and I feel like I’m meeting a lot more people than [I would] if I wasn’t a drum major.”
