Another group of freshmen has entered Skyline High School: a wave of new people with different personalities and hobbies. One of these freshmen is Ethan Miller (‘28). Miller is on the Skyline Marching Band as well as the Cross-Country Team.
“It was really a lot bigger than Forsythe,” says Miller. “Longer class periods were an adjustment but it was really good. I have really good teachers that made the first week easier.¨
Miller is very committed to both his sport and instrument. Cross Country as well as the Marching band at Skyline are two activities he has grown to love about the school. He finds the coaches and teachers were helpful in his transition from middle school to high school activities.
“The marching band teacher and cross country coaches were understanding,” says Miller. “The band director makes it possible to eat in the band room after sports and before rehearsals. The Cross Country coaches release the band members from practice early to get ready for a game that night.”
Miller felt support from the teachers and staff of Skyline during his first week of high school. “I think [the teachers and staff] did an amazing job with the orientation and the teachers have done a good job of moving us into high school. On the first day, I walked into Spanish 4 by mistake and the teacher told me where to go and gave me a pass to the next class.”
Miller started both band and cross country during middle school. “I have been in the band since 6th grade,” says Miller. “Then in 8th grade, the high schoolers came and invited us to play with them at a football game and it was a great experience, and everyone was super fun so I decided to join it for high school.”
