“I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but then in high school, I really enjoyed orchestra and thought, ‘man, this would be fun to do every day!’ So I decided to go into music so that I could play music every day and then help students fall in love with music too, so that they could become life-long musicians…. I taught for eight years in Kansas and then I had been ─ it’s gonna get mushy ─ I had been dating my boyfriend for four years who lived in Michigan, and I lived in Missouri. It was time for one person to move, to be together in the same state. Skyline was open that year, so I applied for the job. Then I came up and interviewed, got the job, then I moved to Michigan!… He is my husband now, yes…. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s a lot of fun.”
