On the weekend of October 18th, 2025, American citizen rallied in various places around the country to protest the current U.S President, Donald Trump, with multiple signs insinuating that there are “no kings” for the United States of America.
In Michigan, the people of Ann Arbor did the same, rallying from Veterans Memorial Park up to Michigan Stadium.
“It was… super inspiring to see that many people rallying together for the same cause,” said Sebastiaan Dieve (‘26). “You could kinda like feel this almost air of like energy and passion…filling the streets for all of it.”
The protest itself was rallied together to push against the Trump Administration in order to rebel against the way that they are running the United States and the policies they are taking away and putting in place.
“It was definitely needed…to raise awareness and push against what they’re saying,” said Ethan Schultz (‘26). “A peaceful protest is one of the most important things right now.
Despite the peace, according to bystanders, it was an empowering sight to witness. “It was honestly a pretty striking scene,” said Dieve. “There were handmade signs everywhere, people beating drums, and waving flags…The atmosphere wasn’t necessarily angry I’d say, but more so passionate, while also being surprisingly positive and united.”
Seven million people around all the 50 states protested, especially in big cities. “I think it really showed how much people care about our country and protecting our rights,” says Penelope Cooke (‘29). “It was really impactful and cool to see just how many people showed up to share their voices. It gave me a very uplifting feeling and made me feel very hopeful.”
