Positivity Club meeting information: Thursdays after school in The Learning Center (Room B429).

Upbeat, jazzy music and laughter fill the room as club members lightheartedly bicker about the rules for Uno Flip, chiding one another for getting too “negative.”
“Hey!” jokes member Kwesi Kwakye (‘26). “That wasn’t very positive of you!”
The club name itself has become a running joke. While the group was founded to spread optimism throughout the community, it doesn’t pretend its members are cheerful all the time.
They’re working on it, though.
“I’ve been a negative Nancy, so now is my starting line to spread positivity,” Kwakye says.
Despite the playful jokes, the club does deliver on its mission: to spread positivity schoolwide. Members have posted colorful sticky notes with kind messages around the school, chalked motivational quotes on sidewalks, hosted bake sales for charities, and made gifts for teachers on teacher appreciation week.
When they aren’t actively working towards their goals, they make sure to have fun as a club community. “We’ve made friendship bracelets,” says co-president Elena Gery (’26). “And we eat lots of snacks.”
At the first meeting this Fall, co-presidents Gery and Simone Dalton (’26) kicked things off with introductions and icebreakers. Soon after, attendees crowded around a table for a round of Uno Flip before moving to the floor to play Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, all fueled by cupcakes and chips.

Members have found their way to the club for many different reasons. Emmeline Wall (’28) says she decided to join simply because she wasn’t in any other clubs. Gery joined last year for a similar reason. “I wanted to do a really fun club,” said Gery. “And what’s more fun than positivity?”
Others, like Kwakye and Bass Dieve (’26), were drawn in by friends and word-of-mouth. With its fun atmosphere and small group size, Positivity Club allows members to comfortably chat and connect. “[It’s] just a really easy way to get engaged and make the community and school a better place,” Dalton says.
