The Skyline Boys’ Lacrosse team faced another rough season with many highs and lows, testing the team’s strength and their ability to work together, showing the freshmen a new taste of high school lacrosse.
The team finished with a final 5-11 record, with a great win against Chelsea heading into regionals before ultimately being knocked out by Linden.
The team is still trying to reach the top with new Head Coach Isiah Dehn. “This season was shorter than anyone would’ve expected, and really opens one’s eyes to appreciate what you have before it’s gone,” says Dehn. “Whether win or lose, this group made each moment with each other a positive memory and made the most of their time together growing and enjoying being part of a team.”
“It’s been impressive watching all of our new guys grow throughout the season,” says Owen Simmons (‘25). “With several guys going from picking up a stick for the first time a few months ago to making the starting lineup and being important contributors.”
Fielding a JV team was another challenge, but the freshmen who did not quit really started to learn and get better with the opportunity to compete in some varsity games. “It was hard at the start because a lot of freshmen quit, so there was no JV team,” says Henry Root (‘28). “Overall, it was a hard season, but me and many others got better during the season.”
Many players say it was a rollercoaster ride of a season with some very close games and some blowouts. They are ready to have a good season next year and beat cross-town rival Pioneer.
