Although the Skyline Men’s Golf team could fly under the inattentive Eagles’ radar, in previous years, the team has been one of the best Skyline has to offer. However, with the 2025 spring season, Skyline Golf welcomed 15 new faces, making the year less of a continuation and more like a fresh tee off.

With their Southeastern Conference Championship in 2024, showing their consistent winning seasons over the years, the Skyline Men’s Golf Team throughout their history has been very successful. “The team has consistently been a top-ranked team in the state, placing first in 2021 and in the top five in recent years,” says Ronak Ailawadi (‘25).
This level of success, however, did not come without effort. While golf is sometimes misunderstood as a relatively leisurely sport, the Eagles work hard towards attaining their goals. “We go either to the range, which is just hitting balls and then looking at your shot shape, trying to fix your swing, or we play nine holes, maybe 18 if we are lucky,” says Fletcher Kierce (‘26).
The former state champions have seen a big change this season compared to what they are used to, with a very different team from past years. “Due to the loss of many seniors, it has resulted in an immense amount of new players,” says Ailawadi.
As they adapt to the many new players on the team, the team has had to change how it operates. “We’ve had to be more oriented on development and less on focusing on just fine-tuning,” says Jackson Hensley (‘26), ¨I would say overall, it’s been good to have this level of turnover.¨
Though the roster overhaul has led to more of a rebuilding year for the Eagles, losing in their tournaments much more than they would like, the players are still managing to stay positive, and Skyline Golf is planting the seeds for greatness for the future.
