The Skyline baseball team is through most of their season with a really impressive 19-13 record and are gearing up for playoffs! In Coach Cornell’s second season at Skyline he has been helping point Skyline’s baseball program in a positive direction.
The team has many goals that they are looking to accomplish over the course of the season. “Our main goal is to go as far as possible in the playoffs this year. We also have a main goal of winning every series we play but most importantly we just completed our goal of winning the city after beating Pioneer.”, says Pitcher Caleb Raymond (’25). The team has been preparing for playoffs since the offseason. The transition of Coach Cornell has established this program with a productive offseason. “It has been really smooth. Coach has really helped prepare us for the season with the offseason workouts. He is helping this program head into the right direction” says infielder Nehith Kumar (’25) about Coach Cornell coming to Skyline.
Skyline is currently looking forward to competing in the few games left and getting ready for playoffs after winning the city. There are many different things that go into winning baseball teams and one of them is team chemistry. “Our team gets along really well together. We make sure to spend time with each other outside of baseball. We try to work on our chemistry in practice as well as games too,” says infielder Andrew Lyon (‘25).

While Skyline is in the regular season, everything they do is preparing for playoffs. Nehith Kumar(‘25) says, “We practice consistently and take every game really seriously so we are prepared for playoffs when the time comes. Our preparation hasn’t been just during the season but everyone put a lot of work in before the season.”
The baseball team has had some success already but still looks to all their goals in front of them. The addition of Coach Cornell has been going really well and he has not just Varsity but JV and Freshman programs headed in a positive direction.
