With a flower, a song, and a dream, Skyline Theatre has ended their run of Hadestown: Teen Edition this past weekend, May 2-4.
Which makes last week tech week. In these final hours of production, the theatre department is in “all hands on deck” mode, with rehearsals every day after school, which run well into the night. “It was a lot of finishing touches,” says construction head Ashton Woods (‘25). “It was just making sure that everything was set for the actors on the set.”
The members of the Workers ensemble, who portray lost souls in the underworld, spent much of tech week with their dance captain, Kylie Dybdahl (‘26), cleaning and clarifying choreography. “I think it’s come together a lot better than I thought,” says Dybdahl of the cast’s opening night progress. “We were definitely struggling at the beginning, but we’ve come so far. Everything looks really good.”
The original, Tony award-winning musical by Anaïs Mitchell is a retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, set to a swinging score in the style of New Orleans jazz.
“When everyone gets on stage … you are forced to just enjoy and be enthralled by it,” says music director Andrew Chen (‘25). “This show grabs you by the heartstrings and never lets go until the end.”
