Winter season is ending, bringing forth the new season of Spring sports. Centerfield Baseball player Donovon Hill (‘25) has been eagerly preparing for the Spring season while battling ACL surgery recovery and balancing school, and work.
“Baseball has always been my passion. It takes up a large part of my life and helps keep me on the right track,” says Hill. “I watch the MLB all the time and it’s a part of my life and everyday entertainment.”
Hill has been playing baseball since he was 8 years old; he has since gotten better and become a crucial part of every team he’s been on. While searching for his true passion, he attempted to play golf and found it not as important to him as baseball was. He also dabbled in football during the 2024 season and was a varsity starter, playing wherever needed on the field.
Hill’s athletic ability has supported him in both his pursuits in baseball and developing good habits off the field.
“I like trying other sports,” says Hill. “I’ve played football, basketball, golf, baseball, and I work out often. I like to stay active.”
In the beginning of the 2024 school year, during a tight football game against Pioneer as quarterback, Hill was tackled and tore his ACL. The road to recovery was a long one, the inability to be active took a toll on him. However, after a long recovery Hill is back and his season is looking promising once again.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to run this season to my full potential,” says Hill. “I know I’ll be able to hit, it’s all a matter how fast I can run.”
Baseball season wouldn’t be the same without the crucial player and four year varsity player Donnie Hill. When it comes to the field, Hill has the game of baseball bleeding through him. His friends, Skyline students, and baseball fans are excited to witness his upcoming season, and his triumph after recovering from a game-changing injury.
