Kennedy Wassef (‘26) is a well known face around Skyline. She participates in many different activities: basketball, soccer (club and Skyline), golf, DECA, mock trial, student athlete awareness club, and is president of Women in Sports club.
“Playing two sports at once… it’s hard to balance sometimes,” says Wassef. “But it is fun to be with people who also share the same interests as you, and get to know them and create bonds.”
Wassef is known for her great personality and how well she is able to connect with her teammates and make the team feel better when it’s an off day. “She’s so positive,” said Maeve Kilbride (‘27). “Always cracking jokes, and it’s always making people feel better.”
Not only is she making a difference in sports but she started a club with Gabi Arocha (‘26) called Women in Sports. “We work together as a team pretty well I would say,” said Arocha. “She’s really open to new ideas. I think that’s also what makes her a good player: she’s open to feedback.”
She has been a strong leader on the basketball team and really helped the team improve and given some very good advice. “I’ve really enjoyed Kennedy’s leadership style this past year,” said Mike Lovelace. “I feel like she’s gone into her junior year and has really taken hold of wanting to be a leader on the team.”
“Kennedy’s got a ton of potential,” said Lovelace. “As an offensive player, she can score inside and has a really good outside shot, a really good feel from the three point range, She’s a very good passer. She sees the court very well. Defensively, she’s working hard to communicate and rebound that it’s where we need her on the defensive end.”
After high school she wants to move on to a good college and study Architecture and Urban Planning. She has decided not to play soccer in college, but if she changes her mind she has offers she can reach out to. Wassef has a lot of potential in the future and has worked very hard to get where she needs to be, whether it’s on the court playing basketball or participating clubs.
