Guy Haines sits comfortably as he rides on a Train to Florida to see his soon-to-be ex-wife, Marim. He struggles to get back to his new love, Anne – the wall between them is Marim; Marim hardly wants to let go of Guy, because she claimed that she was pregnant, and doesn’t know who the father is and now she hardly agrees with the divorce. Who could knock this wall down? A Lawyer? Family? Destiny? —
Minutes later during the train ride, a young blonde man walks over to Guy’s seat and sits down across from him… Little does Guy know that he is sitting across from big trouble….
Two men’s lives get tangled when one of them, Charles Bruno, proposes that they should trade murders. Haines thinks he is crazy and refuses when Bruno pushes the plan on him.
This book is definitely worth reading. You can feel the tension as you read. It is thrilling and suspenseful, and it got me hooked and curious about what was going to happen next. I am usually not surprised by most novels, something always just gives away the shock of the scene, but this novel just brings me to shock each time. Especially with Bruno, one of the most intriguing characters in the novel.
Strangers on a Train is the best thriller I’ve read in a long while. You get a connection with the characters as you read about their personalities, lives, and how they intertwine with each other. The characters especially come to life as you read more about them in the book.
This novel presents unexpected twists, drama and love that tests loyalty. A battle between right or wrong, which Guy, our protagonist, struggles with the most. Guy would be the most reasonable character in this book, because he has a strong goal, which is to get a divorce from Marim so that he could marry Ann and Guy continues to grow in his successful career as a famous architect… Pretty straight forward and civil, right? Now Bruno on the other hand is the complete opposite.
Bruno is not hard-working at all, to top it all off, his family is very wealthy and he believes that he doesn’t need to work or do anything, because his family has plenty of money to spare. But the problem is his father. Bruno claims that his father took his money until he got a job. It completely angered Bruno. Bruno hated his father with all of his heart, but how much does he hate his father? How much does Bruno despise him? Surely, Guy would find out soon enough….
This novel makes you ask, How far would you go for your passion? How far would you go to keep that love? Would you go as far as what you are about to read today?….
If you are interested in Strangers on a Train,” you are up for a wild ride. If you’re into Psychological Thrillers and Historical Fiction, this book is for you. If you’re 15 or older, this novel will be a great read for you.
