A Friday night game at Skyline’s student section (the Nest) can look like anything: from a sea of black to a sunny beach day or a bright neon crowd. Outfit themes are a huge part of the Nest’s culture and bring energy to the large gathering of eagles.
When you dress up for themes, there’s always more to look forward to at football games, both before and after the games. “My favorite theme has to be USA, because dressing up and putting on facepaint with your friends before makes the overall vibe really fun,” said Julia Zhang (‘27). “I also really like the blackout theme because the tradition brings students together!”
The student-run Instagram account @a2_nest (not officially affiliated with Skyline) are the place to go if you want to stay in the know for everything football. “The themes are planned by students who run the social media account,” said Kami Lindsay (‘25), an @a2nest account manager. “Our traditions [are] mostly just beach theme for the first game and blackout for the hoco game.”
On the account you can find all the information you need about themes, dates, opponents, and location. Here are the 2024-2025 season football themes:
- September 13th Jersey out vs Huron
- September 20th Black out vs Lincoln (Homecoming Game)
- September 27th Vote vs Dexter
- October 4th Neon vs Monroe
- October 10th MJR White out vs Pioneer
- October 18th Pink out vs Saline
- October 25th Halloween vs Summit
The themes of Skyline football games make attending exciting and give all the eagles in the student section something additional to look forward to. “I like the beach theme because I think it’s fun to wear leis and sunglasses and bikinis,” said Adira Maze (‘26). “Also the pictures are cute because of all the colors!”
