The Skyline Varsity, Junior Varsity and Novice Crew teams started their season off strong. Skyline won second overall in the Midwest regionals out of 55 schools that attended. “Every year the race gets faster and more competitive, so even making finals (top 8 in the region) is a big deal and scores points for the team,” said Coach Kit Bennett.
Many boats have made it into nationals and will compete in Camden, New Jersey this Friday, May 24. “Our boat is so excited to get the opportunity to go to New Jersey and race at such a big competition,” said VJV rower Sydney Harwick (‘25).
The team is very excited to see many teammates make it into such a big competition. Coach Bennett has been working hard to make their team powerful and fast moving. “This is now my 16th year running the program, and I am very proud of the community we have built,” said Bennett.
“I haven’t been to nationals yet,” said Harwick. “I’m excited to see how big this race is. It is a scholastic race. I’m excited for it to be a little bit more relaxed because we are not the team holding the regatta.”
These boats are ready to move to the national championships in New Jersey this weekend. Fans will be able to find Friday’s race times and results here and are invited to cheer our Eagles along, via the livestream drone coverage on YouTube.
