A note from The Post staff: at The Skyline Post, we invite every senior who has been on our staff to write a Senior Spotlight. A Senior Spotlight is a chance for them to address the community as they go forth into the world.
Before high school started, I wasn’t sure what to expect or where to go. I had this 4 year plan before even stepping into the building. I was going to take classes that I liked, join some interesting clubs, and maybe attempt a sport. Little did I know that my plans would fall through the very first trimester of 9th grade. As I first stepped into my first class on the first day of school, there was this sense of ambiguity as no one knew where they were going or what they should be doing.
Right then, I made a promise to myself to make an effort to be present in what I was doing and talk to more people. As the year progressed, I found myself focused on my classes and talking to my peers in class. I created strong relationships with my teachers and that helped me create my own community. By the end of the year, I felt like a high schooler who knew exactly what they wanted.
Fast forward to senior year: I didn’t expect to live through a pandemic or have classes on zoom. Online school was a different experience, but through one on one breakout room conversations, I made some really awesome friends. Throughout my 4 years in high school, I had interesting conversations with my teachers and worked on super cool projects. Coming out of high school, I am not quite sure what I want to do in the future, but I know that Skyline has helped me build a toolkit which will lead me to success.
I would like to thank all my teachers who have supported and motivated me these past 4 years. My friends and family have been so supportive and it wouldn’t have been the same experience without them!
Go Eagles!
