As the start of the season progresses, building and maintaining a strong new group of swimmers is key to their success. These efforts are part of a larger strategy to build a dynamic and competitive team for years to come.
As recruitment efforts have been immense this season, the team has gained 10 new swimmers. “This year the team has been inviting new freshmen, new sophomores, and new juniors to get recruits in,” says Captain Connor Zillich (‘25). “You need people to swim and the more people [you have] you’ll get more talent.”
In swimming, winning meets isn’t the most important thing: rather, pushing yourself and others to their fullest potential is key to having a successful season. “We’re trying to encourage the new people,” says Zillich. “We’re trying to make sure everything is in working order, trying to get the most successful season possible.”
The Eagles have continued their season by strengthening their team culture and honing their diligence. “Solid locker room culture and strengthening team bonds is one of the most important things,” says Captain Aidan Mazza (‘25). “Encouraging our new swimmers to push themselves at practice and dry land workouts so they can get a handle on how swimming operates and build a good work ethic to strengthen themselves as swimmers and as people.”
